What you’ll need

Before you check, gather:

• Your Texas driver license or ID number
• Your date of birth
• The last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
• Pen and paper or a notes app (write down any “compliance items” the system shows you)

SIX REASONS YOUR TEXAS LICENSE GETS SUSPENDED

• OmniBase failure-to-appear or failure-to-pay hold — most common. A municipal court told DPS you ghosted a ticket. To clear: pay the court, then pay a $30 OmniBase fee.
• Failure to maintain financial responsibility — driving uninsured. Usually 2-year suspension on second offense.
• DWI / BWI conviction — automatic suspension. Length depends on prior offenses (90 days to 2 years).
• Refusal of breath/blood test (ALR) — Administrative License Revocation, 180 days first offense.
• Unpaid child support — Office of Attorney General can request license suspension under Tex. Fam. Code §232.003.
• Drug conviction — a felony drug offense triggers an automatic 90-day suspension, even if no vehicle was involved. A misdemeanor drug offense triggers automatic suspension only if you have a prior drug conviction from within the last 36 months; otherwise a judge must make a written public-safety finding to suspend. Tex. Transp. Code § 521.372.
